When you are diagnosed with type-2 diabetes, you should be more careful about your meal plan. Your main focus should be on keeping your blood sugar level under control. To manage your blood sugar, try to follow a meal plan like this:-

Less calorie food
Same amount of carbohydrate at each meal

If you take healthy food you can keep your blood sugar under you control by maintaining healthy weight. Losing weight can manage your diabetes better. Eating healthy food can help you to lose your weight.

Planning meals:

A very good way to make sure that you are getting all the nutrition you need that is, using plate method. This is the best way to choose how amounts of food you should eat. Half plate of non-starchy vegetables and protein one quarter of the plate and starch at least one quarter of the plate.

Eat a variety of food:

Try to eat a wide variety of foods from all the food groups at every meal. Eating these varieties food will help you to get proper nutrition and staying healthy.

Fruits (2 1/2 to 3 cups in a day):

Choose fresh, canned (without extra added sugar), frozen or dried fruits. You can take berries, grapes, cherries, orange, peaches, raisins, pears, bananas, apples. You can also drink fruit juice but do not add extra sugar in it.

Vegetables (2 1/2 to 3 cups a day):

You can take frozen or fresh vegetables without added fats, sauces or salt. Try to include non-starchy vegetables such as, broccoli, cabbage and dark green vegetables. Starchy vegetables include potatoes, green peas, corn and lima beans.

Protein foods (5 to 6 ounces a day):

Protein foods include poultry, seafood, meat, eggs, peas, beans, nuts and processed soy foods. You can eat fish and poultry. If you want to eat chicken or turkey then you should remove the skin from chicken and turkey.

Dairy (three cups a day):

You can take low or nonfat dairy products. You should keep in mind that yogurt, milk and other dairy food contains sugar without adding sugar.
